Crievewood’s Student Ministry: Training the Next Generation of Disciple-Makers
In what is quickly becoming a post-Christian culture, today's teens can easily fall into a "Sunday Christian" faith, or walk away from faith completely. As teens grow up, they find that their simple Sunday school answers don't hold up to the "real-world" circumstances they find themselves in. There must be a firmer grasp of the faith that continues to grow with them; one that is robust enough to overcome these challenges.
At Crievewood Baptist Church, we strive to see every youth grow into an intentionally maturing disciple of Jesus. On Wednesday evenings, our program is geared towards reaching those who have had little-to-no exposure to the Gospel. We share a meal together, spend time in worship, and participate in a 20-minute lesson. On Sunday mornings, we spend an hour together engaging in spiritual disciplines, studying Scripture, and sharpening one another.
In addition to our regularly scheduled meetings, there are several other events to engage the youth. Several times each year the youth are invited out to the youth pastor's house for cookouts and campfires. They also host Encounters events 3-4 times per year. Encounters is an evening of food, fellowship, and worship, including prayer, Scripture reading, and praise led by several of the youth. We are also a multi-ethnic, multi-racial youth group, so we plan to attend camps such as All Nations Camp each year.
Everyone from 7th grade through 12th grade is welcome to be a part of our Student Ministry. Our Wednesday evening activities go from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and our Sunday morning program runs from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
